Morenike Olorunnisomo, LPC, SEP, RYT200
Hello! My name is Morenike (pronounced more-EH-nih-kay) and I’m a licensed professional counselor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and Registered Yoga Teacher. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Edward's University in 2017. After graduating, I did a year of service through AmeriCorps, then began graduate school the following year. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman's University in 2020.
I’m pretty passionate about all things related to trauma, especially complex trauma, relational/attachment trauma, as well as cultural trauma, and intergenerational trauma, and am a self-identified forever student of the field. Because humans are so incredibly dynamic and complex, I seek any and all opportunities to learn more about informed care for these areas and populations. I practice from a feminist, relational, and trauma-informed lens, which in-part means that I view each client as a whole person by considering their journey and context and try my best to create a safe environment to hold space for anything a person may bring to a session. No topic is off-limits.

I am certified in Somatic Experiencing, Trauma Model Therapy, Trauma-Conscious Yoga, and have training in mindfulness, complex trauma, eating disorders, and faith-based work. I also enjoy using strategies and tools from expressive arts-based approaches, dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), aromatherapy, bibliotherapy, and Internal Family Systems! At the end of the day, there’s no one-size-fits-all to trauma work and the healing process--we can work together to find what works best for you.

I am Christian, Black/Nigerian American, and a native Texan! I am also a lover of yoga, cooking, gardening, and painting/collaging. These are also many of the things I lean on for self-care. I also have a sassy cat named Phoebe Buffay (can you guess what my favorite TV show is?).

I knew I wanted to be a therapist from a very young age to break down barriers to mental healthcare access and advocate for and normalize talking about mental health: the good, the bad, and the especially challenging topics. My hope is that eventually, people might feel less alone on this wild roller coaster called life.
